Tunbridge Wells tech firm Crimson Tide celebrated its 20-year anniversary last week by sponsoring a race day at Lingfield Park Race Course with Dame Judi Dench on hand to award a prize to the owner of the winning horse.
Clients, investors, board members, directors, employees, friends and family joined company founder Barrie Whipp for the celebration, which also marked ten years since the firm listed on the Alternative Investment Market.
Hospice in the Weald were the charity of choice for the event and were invited to join and raise valuable funds to support their new cottage hospice project in Kent.
Mr Whipp set up the company in his garage with nothing more than three PCs and a phone in 1996, but it has since grown to have a market cap of around £13million.
Key to this success was the release of the software mpro5 in 2004, which improves back office functions and logistics through the removal of paperwork and via its job scheduling, alerting and reporting capabilities.
It already has over 15,000 sites in the UK, Ireland and Europe using it.
Mr Whipp said: “It was a pleasure to celebrate the success of Crimson Tide with those who have made major contributions over the years.”
The owner of the winning horse at the Crimson Tide 20th Anniversary Handicap Stakes was experienced jockey and trainer Mark Perrett, who is based at Coombelands Racing Stables in Sussex.
