One of the biggest employers in Tunbridge Wells is to receive The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.
Childrensalon, whose headquarters are in Kingstanding Way, was named among the winners as part of the monarch’s birthday honours on Saturday, April 21.
They are due to receive the award at an event in Buckingham Palace in June, which will include a reception hosted by Prince Charles.
Chief Executive and founder Michele Harriman-Smith [pictured] said: ‘We are very proud to be recognised with the International Trade Award and look forward to continuing to operate internationally and growing our amazing team here in Tunbridge Wells.’
The company, which employs 319 staff, sells clothing for 0 to 16 year olds and has had a successful past 12 months with a host of other accolades.
The Sunday Times named Childrensalon as one of its top 50 Best Companies to Work For, while it was shortlisted for the Digital Drapers Awards in three categories.
They were also selected by accountants PricewaterhouseCoopers in their GREAT Network and made a record £80million turnover.
Childrensalon maintains a shopfront in Tunbridge Wells High Street but their main focus is now online and the company has been based in Kingstanding Way, off North Farm, since 2010.
Ms Harriman-Smith opened the offices to the press in March and revealed what she thought made the company successful.
‘We treat every customer as one of our family and believe every mistake is an opportunity to learn,’ she told the Times.
