CISI gets new president following inaugural fundraiser

90th Birthday Tea Party 7!

THE Spa Hotel has played host to the inaugural annual dinner for South Eastern members of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), who collectively raised £1,875 for charity.

Money was raised through donations and a prize draw, with proceeds going to the Hospice in the Weald, a charity that strives to ensure that patients with a terminal illness, their families and carers have access to compassionate, individualised and supportive care.

Over 90 guests were entertained by comedian and television personality, Bob ‘the Cat’ Bevan MBE – the first person to be honoured by the queen for after-dinner speaking – who regaled those present with tales of his experiences as President of Kent County Cricket Club.

The day after the event, which took place at the end of November, the South East branch of the CISI elected Tunbridge Wells-based investment manager Katie Presland of wealth management firm Charles Stanley as their new president.

Following her appointment, Ms Presland (pictured centre) said: “I am proud to have been elected as the President of the CISI’s South East branch. I’ve been the vice president of the South East CISI for the last three years since its inception, and at the recent inaugural dinner I was honoured to become President.

“Over the past three years, we have been trying to raise the profile of the CISI locally and have organised many events in the Tunbridge Wells area. This year our CPD events have proved a great success, bringing over 60 local members of the CISI together.”
