THE local bus network avoided being bought to a standstill on Monday after operator Arriva and the Acas union came to an agreement to call off strike action.
The operator’s depot in Tunbridge Wells was among a number which would have been affected had the union gone ahead with the proposed 24 hours of industrial action.
Acas members voted last Wednesday for the strike over plans by Arriva to introduce a ‘mystery shopper’ scheme to check standards as well as allegations of bullying and harassment in the workplace.
However, the strike was called off 24 hours later, after Arriva said they would not be implementing the scheme and a resolution had been reached.
