A YOUNG hairdresser from a Tunbridge Wells salon has won a coveted competition run by one of the country’s leading hair styling names.
Rosie Saunders, a senior stylist and colourist at Leigh Roberts salon in Vale Road, beat talented rivals to win a highly-prized position on the L’Oreal ID Artistic Team.
The 26 year old will now spend the next two years being developed and mentored by some of the leading professional hair stylists, and will have the opportunity to work on some of the world’s biggest fashion shows and showbiz events as part of her training.
The ID Artist programme from L’Oreal is designed to scour the UK to find an elite team of talented individuals who could be the future stars of the hairdressing industry.
Rosie, who had to go through a nerve-wracking audition process before a panel of judges to win her place, said: “It was truly terrifying. Months of hard work depended on that audition, and there was so much riding on it. But I held my nerve and was really happy with my presentation to the judges, who all gave me excellent feedback.
“I must also really thank the fantastic team who helped me.
“My model India-Jane, make-up artist David Hynes, Gary Russell for coaching me with my presenting skills, and Leigh Roberts for believing in me and backing me all the way.”
Salon owner Leigh Roberts added: “Rosie is such a talented hairdresser with huge potential.
“Her preparation was second to none and it really showed on the day of the audition.
“She has the right attitude towards her work and will go a really long way in the industry.”
She continued: “We are all extremely proud of her and very much look forward to following her progress.”
