Major jobs boost as social care company expands

Inside the civic complex

TUNBRIDGE Wells and Tonbridge have received a welcome boost to their local economies after one of the country’s largest homecare providers committed to creating an extra 100 jobs in the two towns last week.

Bluebird Care, which has an office on Vale Road, Tonbridge, said the move was in response to a ‘significant increase’ in demand in the West Kent area.

The company, which was founded in 2004, operates as a franchise model, and has 200 operations across the UK serving 20,000 customers each day. It primarily cares for the elderly, people with physical disabilities and adults with learning disabilities.

Care Manager, Claire Stanley, said: “With increased demand for the services we provide, we will continue to employ committed and passionate care assistants which has been a huge part of our success in recent years.

“We will only ever be as good as the staff we employ and our staff are excellent! They are always professional and have real empathy for the people that they look after.”

Figures released by the Kent Public Health observatory predict an 8.8 per cent increase in the number of over 65s in Tunbridge Wells borough by 2020. In Tonbridge it is estimated to rise by 7.6 per cent.
