Istanbul Meze Bar & Restaurant is only a few weeks away from opening at the location under a new management team. It will become the town’s third Turkish eatery.
Manager Harun Aslan is hoping for greater success than Bomonti, which the Times understands fell into bankruptcy and closed a few weeks ago.
It was the latest in a series of restaurants to depart from Tunbridge Wells, with Strada and Jamie’s Italian other big name casualties of what has been dubbed a ‘casual dining crunch’.
However, Turkish-born Mr Aslan, who has moved from Cambridge, believes the town is a ‘good market’ for the business and has committed to offering a traditional menu.
