Owners of EVs will now be able to top up their batteries from 0 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes at the newly installed charge points on St John’s road.
Customers can pay at the recharge points with a range of payment methods, with electricity priced at 25p per kWh.Jane Lindsay-Green, Shell UK Retail Future Fuels Manager said: “The service provides Electric Vehicle drivers with a convenient way to charge their cars on-the-go; and at Shell St Johns they can also pick up a snack and use the free Wi-Fi while they wait.”
The oil giant launched the Shell Recharge programme in October last year and has started the second wave of the roll out this autumn, bringing the service to a further 30 sites over the coming months.
The expansion of the service will create a network across the UK, targeted to areas where they see growth in the uptake of EVs and the connecting roads.
