Bitesize: Hattons

Hattons Tunbridge Wells

Charlie Bond embraces the sun with some alfresco lunching at Hattons

Owned and run by Michelin star winning chef Daniel Hatton, this eatery on The Pantiles opened in 2016 and has been enjoying success ever since. Not only do they sell great food and drink, there’s also a wealth of gorgeous gifts and interior pieces to be discovered – definitely allow yourself plenty of browsing time!

We had:

The Hattons menu changes regularly, with seasonal dishes and new creations added all the time. As this is a lunchtime catch-up with a friend, and it’s SUNNY, we sit outside so we can watch the world go by, and immediately order a glass of the Pretty Gorgeous Rosé (£6) (that’s what it’s called – although the description is accurate!).
I’m only really a fan of dry rosés, and this wine from the Languedoc Roussillon region of France fits the bill perfectly.

As for food – I opt for a mix of the daily salads, which today includes Roasted carrots with a tahini dressing, Italian San Marzano tomatoes with capers, olives and purple basil, and a grain Caesar salad with lemon dressing (£6), while my friend chooses the toasted flatbread with tzatziki and halloumi.
Both dishes are absolutely delicious and perfect for dining in the sunshine.

We thought:

This is such a lovely place to eat, drink and enjoy the buzz of The Pantiles. If I hadn’t been heading back to the office, I could easily have stayed all afternoon – with another rosé or two, of course…
