Just two more weeks remain during which charities can apply for a share of the £30,000 raised at the Dunorlan Park fireworks display.
Tunbridge Wells Round Table [TWRT] is to consider requests from organisations, who are making specific bids for funding, before Thursday, February 15.
Applicants will be notified on whether or not they have been successful before March 4 when Mayor Julia Soyke leads a presentation event at the Royal Wells Hotel.
Already £1,000 has been donated to Tunbridge Wells-based domestic abuse charity DAVVS and £500 was given to the children’s ward of the hospital at Pembury before Christmas.
TWRT member Andrew Mockford told the Times that he was delighted with the £30,000 raised at the 2017 fireworks night, despite the occasion being impacted by rain.
He said: “As organisers of the display, we’re in the privileged position of being able to give something back to the local community.
“All proceeds from our Dunorlan fireworks event are distributed to various causes.
“We would urge anyone in need of funding within our community to apply, whether you’re an individual or part of a larger organisation. The more worthy causes we can support, the better.”
