Some of Consultus’s phenomenal carers and nurses are being recognised today when Dame Esther Rantzen DBE presents them with awards at a lunch being held by Consultus – one of the UK’s most renowned and respected care and nursing company.
The awards represent a ‘thank you’ to Consultus carers and nurses who have either achieved 100 bookings with the agency or gone the extra mile in – what is at times – an extremely challenging role.
This is a double celebration for Consultus as the luncheon also coincides with the official opening of a second Consultus carer house in Tonbridge, which will provide extra accommodation for the growing community of carers and nurses whilst they are in-between assignments or on training. The Mayor and Mayoress of Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council, Councillor – Mark Rhodes and his wife Mrs Julie Rhodes – will join Dame Esther before going on to the awards luncheon.
This is the fourth and last time Dame Esther Rantzen DBE will host the awards. She says: “I am so impressed with the carers who have received these awards and love hearing their stories. I know from my own family how crucial it is that the care is loving and compassionate, and provides security and companionship.  I would be thrilled if any family member of mine had the kind of consistent, dedicated and skilled care that these award winners provide. I am sad that I am unable to continue to attend the ceremony but I look forward to receiving regular updates from Consultus about their work. They are defining best practice in care and nursing in the UK, and the new carer house is another example of that.”
Consultus has valued Dame Esther’s support. She has proved to be an inspiration to the carers and head office staff alike. Dame Esther’s magnetic presence on the day really adds a sprinkling of magic to the event. “It’s the highlight of the year for the Consultus family” Andrea Daddy Project Director of Consultus states.
Consultus CEO, Peter Seldon, said “We are incredibly grateful to Dame Esther for taking the time from her very busy schedule to support us and our carers and nurses over the past few years. She really understands the importance of high quality care and the real difference that our carers and nurses make.”
Rewarding high performance is something Consultus takes very seriously. The quality of care a person receives makes all the difference to their wellbeing. The carers who receive the awards set the benchmark for the type of care with which Consultus identifies; they are our ambassadors.
Jenny Gaynham who received the award last year has been a Consultus Carer for over 26 years. Jenny is such an incredible lady and is adored by her clients and all the Consultus staff. I was thrilled to be invited to the awards luncheon and it was an honour to meet and chat with Dame Esther” Jenny has a very positive outlook on life and has a real respect for our older generation. “None of us would be here if it wasn’t for our older generation, so we need to enjoy and learn from them”
Consultus are delighted to keep the vision of our founder Mrs Anne Stephens alive, who understood that “People feel better at home” and this could not be achieved without the help of our wonderful carers and nurses. “We really couldn’t do it without you”
