JOHN HOARE of Linden Park Fourth XI took five wickets in five balls at Laughton and could still improve on that startling feat.
John, who runs Cassidy’s sports bar in Tunbridge Wells, took two wickets at the end of his 13th over and three more at the start of his 14th, hitting the middle stump to finish the innings off in style.
The medium-pacer returned figures of 6 for 20. Because the last wicket was the opposition’s 10th, he can make it six wickets in six balls when he bowls in the next game.Â
The 66-year-old, who has been playing for 53 years, said: “I’ve previously taken four wickets in four balls. That was back in 1976.
I remember it well!”
