COWDREY kept up their powerful sequence of victories with a win at Catford Wanderers thanks to a remarkable assault on the bowlers at the end of their innings.
Overnight rain had seeped under the covers and Catford skipper Shavawn Cunningham asked Cowdrey to bat first after winning the toss.
Barney Scott (31) and Minhaj Jalill (36) got the Tonbridge side off to a solid start with both openers keeping out a fiery opening spell in a stand of 64.
After their departure Jason Carver and Jake McGroarty (25) took up the mantle, running exceptionally well between the wicket.
Carver scored a workmanlike 53 with five boundaries and ensured there were wickets in hand for a final assault.
Witht the score at 173 for 5, Cowdrey’s captain Ryan Addison and Stuart Clarke duly provided the momentum off the last ten overs
The pair smashed the bowling to all parts of the ground in putting on an unbroken partnership of 107 for the sixth wicket.
The fireworks really started in the last two overs, with 55 runs coming from them and eight sixes being scored off the last nine balls of the innings.
Addison managed to hit five maximums of the last over, falling just short of the perfect six, and Cowdrey had amassed 280 for 5.
Addison was unbeaten on 64 with seven sixes and a four, while Clarke contributed 51 not out with four sixes and four fours.
The home side made a terrible start to the imposing run-chase as fiery paceman Nick Farr (3 for 26) claimed two wickets in the first over.
The high-quality attack continued with his opening partner Thom Brown producing an excellent spell of swing bowling.
Then Jalill proved too good for the middle-order, running through the rest of the batting to finish with outstanding figures of 5 for 17.
The Sri Lankan all-rounder was rewarded with his club cap, which is awarded for five-wicket hauls or hundreds in the league format.
It was Jalill who took the final wicket as Wanderers were all out for 87 in 27.5 overs, losing by 193 runs, and Cowdrey leapfrogged them to sixth place in Kent League Division Three.
Cowdrey now travel to relegation candidates Catford Cyphers on Saturday [August 24].
