One of TV’s favourite female comedians, Lucy Porter, comes to Trinity Theatre on April 26 with her new show Pass It On. The star of QI, Room 101 and Live at the Apollo will be serving her usual punch-line driven chatty style of comedy as she muses on what we receive from our ancestors and what we pass on to future generations. In Lucy’s case she’s inherited dodgy knees and global warming from her parents, but the ultimate question is, can she leave a better legacy for her children? Why not go along to find out? Bridal beauty
If you’re tying the knot in 2019 then don’t miss the special Wedding Bridal Studio fashion show at the Hotel Du Vin on Saturday April 6. As well as cream tea and champagne to enjoy from 3pm there will also be a catwalk show at 3.30pm plus the opportunity for brides-to-be try dresses on and receive an exclusive 10 per cent discount on the day. Floral tribute
Visit Hever Castle & Gardens from April 24-30 and you’ll see a riot of floral colour courtesy of the magnificent tulips on display. This is the third year Hever Castle has put on this event and it’s set to be the biggest one yet with 21,000 tulips blossoming in the enchanting grounds of the childhood home of Anne Boleyn. Visitors will be able to enjoy a self-guided tulip trail throughout the grounds and there will be free tours with Hever Castle’s Head Gardener at 11.30am each day. You’ll also have the opportunity to cast your eyes on the stunning tulip displays created by in-house florist Pamela Brise which are dotted around the castle.

Market value
If you’re a lover of unique retro finds for your wardrobe and your home then make sure you go along to the Vintage and Craft Market, which is taking place on April 27 in Chiddingstone Causeway. There will be around 50 stall holders attending the event, selling everything from art and jewellery to ceramics and fashion pieces. There will also be a delicious variety of artisan food and drink to enjoy and an area outside where you can unwind with picnic blankets, outdoor games and music – as long as the sun shines! Entry costs just £1 and under-16s go free. Money raised will go to the local charity Bore Place in Chiddingstone, in particular geared towards their Grow to Grow campaign, which aims to help disadvantaged and vulnerable
young people.

Pulling all the right strings
The Paper Balloon Theatre Company bring their enchanting production of The Boy and the Mermaid to the EM Forster Theatre on Sunday (April 7). Performing this mysterious and magical tale at 11.30am and 2pm audiences can join three shanty-singing fishermen as they weave a fishy tale of musical merfolk, menacing monsters and spectacularly bad town planning. Featuring original songs fused with traditional sea shanties, and based on a story by Alex Kanefsky, The Boy and the Mermaid engages with big themes of migration and difference, through a fun, quirky and gripping tale. With live music, puppetry, a rapping octopus and a shifting set full of surprises, this enchanting tale is fun for all the family.

A noteworthy gig
Folk hipsters The Keston Cobblers Club are back after a two-year break and will be performing at The Forum on Saturday April 6. Rumour has it their quirky name was inspired by an 18th-century violinist cobbler who got everybody dancing and they’ve just released their fourth album Siren which, according to critics, is their poppiest yet. If a blend of effervescent and catchy tunes layered with brass, synth and trad folk music hits your sonic spot then make sure you catch them live at this excellent independent music venue.
