The second Festival of Hope will be held at The Forum on Sunday, September 30, from 12pm to 6pm and will feature music performances as well as workshops, art and children’s entertainment.

Romany Kisbee-Batho, part of the organising Tunbridge Wells Welcomes Refugees [TWWR] group, said: “Last year the focus was Syrian refugees, but this time we are looking at the whole picture.

“The event aims to encourage a warm and welcoming environment for members of the community and unite people through amazing music and food.”

All profits from the event go to TWWR, a volunteer-led organisation who work with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and other organisations to support families and individuals through the Government’s Vulnerable Person Resettlement Scheme. This can see help provided in ways such as teaching English, helping register for a school, shopping, transport and housing problems.

Admission to the festival is free but there is an opportunity to make donations to TWWR’s work.

Syrian All Stars, Orange Circus Band, Dan Summer, Create Choir and the Paul Dunton Orchestra are all on the bill to perform. The workshops will give attendees the chance to try instruments.

Ms Kisbee-Batho added: “We want to tell more people about the situation and bring organisations together. We are holding more activities this time and there is a family feel.”
