Football: Constable on target for Rustics again

Pam Mills

TOP of the table Rusthall secured a valuable away victory in Dartford to keep up their surprise push for promotion in the Southern Counties East League First Division.

John Phillips produced a fine piece of skill on 29 minutes to give the visitors a surprise lead. He picked up the ball wide on the left and skipped past two players to score.

Two minutes later Antonio Gonella equalised, and a classy finish by Stuart Zanone put them ahead.

In the second half the Rustics took control. The hard work paid off on 63 minutes when the hosts failed to clear and Andy Constable tapped in for his fourth goal in three games.

On 78 minutes a Rusthall corner from the left was flicked on by captain Joe Fuller and central defender Jon Lord headed home.

Title favourites Glebe now visit the Jockey Stadium for a crucial clash.
