RUSTHALL remain bottom of the Southern Counties East League Premier Division after failing to replicate their only victory of the season in the A26 derby against Crowborough.

The visitors were also in indifferent form, having won only one of their last nine fixtures.

Rusthall’s Nodi Bobomurodov had the first clear chance when he was put through one-on-one with the keeper but Ryan Burbridge denied him.

The Crows began to apply more pressure as the first half wore on and after a header had gone wide they took the lead.

Former Rustic Danny Powell was allowed to turn in the box, he fired off a snapshot quickly and the ball found the far corner of the net.

In the second half Crowborough showed their experience in the way they managed their lead and held on for a slender victory.

Rusthall’s Charlie Clover had a shot from distance which was easily saved, and Chris Slater in the home goal made two good saves.

The Rustics head to Cray Valley in search of much-needed points on Saturday [February 9, kick-off 2.30pm].

Tunbridge Wells, who did not have a fixture at the weekend, entertain Bearsted.
