AN INJURY time goal put paid to ÂTonbridge Angels’ hopes of a valuable away win at Enfield.
Despite dominating most of the play, they were held to a frustrating draw on their Âtravels for the second game in succession in the Ryman Premier.
Nicky Wheeler’s early cross caused confusion in the home defence, nearly resulting in an own goal.
After 10 minutes, another Wheeler cross was only partially defended and with the ball running out to Luke Blewden, the midfielder made no mistake with his shot from the edge of the area.
The game was a stalemate for most of the second half with neither side imposing themselves.
The Towners hit the base of the Angels right hand post on 75 minutes, but none of their players were able to follow up the rebound.
That gave hope to the home side and Tonbridge found themselves increasingly on the defensive.
And an Enfield corner deep in stoppage time was somehow bundled over the line by their skipper Mark Kirby for a deserved equaliser.
Angels Manager Steve McKimm was critical of his side’s ‘inability to keep the ball and be brave and create chances’. He added: “That’s down to the players taking responsibility.”
