Football: Rusthall make changes as promotion hopes rise

Bissett leads Rusthall to top of table with valiant defence and super goal
Rusthall FC moves up in the league

RUSTHALL remain on top of the Southern Counties East League Division One table despite not having a game at the weekend.

Title favourites Glebe are just a point behind them and have three games in hand. But K Sports missed the chance to close the gap on the top two when they went down 4-3 at home to Orpington.

Rusthall have lost just once in their 25 league games to date, which is an amazing turnaround from last season’s struggles that saw them finish second from bottom of the table.

The club have ambitious plans for the Jockey Stadium with the pitch being levelled and new drainage installed during the summer. At the same time a 100-seater stand is being put in.

This work will give the club facilities good enough for promotion to the Premier Division, should they manage to achieve a top two finish.

The reserves are chasing promotion too in their first season in the Kent County League and are top of Division Three after beating Guru Nanak 5-0.
