SIMLA lost their chance to become champions of the West Kent Sunday Football League for the eighth time in ten seasons when they lost their ‘must win’ game at Dormansland.
Artois United win the WKSFL title on goal difference ahead of Tonbridge Origin, with Simla just a point behind in third.
It was the closest finish for many seasons, as the league celebrates its 50th -anniversary.
Dormansland Rockets have been in poor form in the league this season despite their run to a County Cup final and the semi-final in the WKSFL Senior Cup.
But the Rockets recorded only their second victory in the league – playing with only ten men.
At times it was like defending the Alamo but they held on and the final score was 2-1.
Dave Heaton and Ben Burns scored for Dormansland, while John Phillips provided Simla’s only goal.
The season’s WKSFL honours go to: Division One winners Artois United, runners-up Tonbridge Origin; Division Two winners Gardener’s Arms, runners-up Pembury Sunday; Division Three winners Bricklayer’s Arms, runners-up Green Street Blues; Division Four winners Tunbridge Wells Foresters Reserves, runners-up FC Grinstead.
