NATIONAL HONOURS: Louis Tipper (right) takes on the Dutch for England Under-18s

The 18-year-old, who plays for Sevenoaks Hockey Club, was appointed vice-captain for a three-Test series against hosts Holland.

Playing in an attacking midfield role, Louis (pictured) helped England to win a hard-fought victory against one of Europe’s strongest hockey nations.

They won the decisive third match 3-2 to square the series after the opener was drawn 2-2 and the Dutch side edged the second 3-2.

Louis, who is deputy head boy at Tonbridge School, is the first pupil of the school to be selected for England Under-18s.

Adrian Schweitzer, Tonbridge’s hockey head coach, said: “Louis is a hugely talented player and athlete who fully deserves this national recognition.

“He has shown great determination to make it into the England team and it is a wonderful achievement to be featuring alongside some of the best players in the country while he is still at school.”

Sevenoaks Hockey Club tweeted its congratulations and described Louis as ‘a top player with a very bright future’.
