Hockey: Tunbridge Wells held as Allberry's strike is cancelled out

TUNBRIDGE WELLS Men stuttered to a draw against a workmanlike Tulse Hill & Dulwich side at Tonbridge School last Saturday.

In a game that lacked that any real magic, it was Tunbridge Wells who took the lead, a trademark Ben Allberry reverse shot powering past the keeper and just crossing the line.

A sloppy piece of a defending placed one of the visitors’ forwards one on one with James Harris in the Wells goal and a fortunate bobble allowed the ball to sneak into the goal.

In the second half the home side saw a couple of chances cleared off the line and another adjudged not to have crossed the line.

So Wells dropped points for only the second time this season. But with other results going their way, they remain six points clear at the top of South Premier League Division Two.

In the league they travel to Banbury on Saturday [December 2] before a tough cup game the next day against the holders Blackheath in the England Hockey Tier Two Championships at Tonbridge School [12.45pm start].
