TUNBRIDGE WELLS Ladies produced an outstanding performance to defeat Ashford at Kent College and help their bid to stay in East Region Division One South.

Amelia Honovar soon got on the scoresheet with a fine strike from the top of the D but the visitors quickly fought back with a well worked goal.

The hosts became more dominant on the ball and regained the lead from a well worked short corner, Lily Loveland beating the keeper.

Ashford pushed again for an equaliser, which they duly found when they were awarded a penalty stroke shortly before half-time.

In the second half Wells dominated possession and were rewarded with a flurry of goals.

Annie Wilson went on a mesmerising run through the defence to score, then supplied a clinical pass for Mia Ryan on the post to slot in.

Player of the match Ele Cairns added to a fine individual performance with a well-taken goal from the top of the D soon afterwards.

Wells extended their lead further with two goals from Sophie Hewitt, from a short corner and a calmly taken penalty stroke.

The Ladies face a stern test at second-placed Upminster on Saturday (February 2, 2pm start).
