FINALLY Tunbridge Wells Ladies got the result they deserved for their attacking teamwork after several near-misses in the first half of the season in East Region Division One South.
Colchester were sitting one point above Wells in the table, and Wells took the game to their hosts with incisive runs from Imogen Jenner, Amelia Honavar and Harriet Alexander.
Jenner made a darting run on the left and released the ball to Becky Bradbury, who took it in to the D and, after the initial shot was saved, fired into the net.
The hosts started the second half forcefully, and a ball lifted in the circle by their right winger was deflected over the crossbar.
This danger galvanised Wells to keep their marking tight and make the most of their attacking play. They won a number of penalty corners but could not capitalise on them.
But the visitors remained calm to close out the win and climb up the table ahead of the Christmas break.
