TUNBRIDGE WELLS completed their series of three back-to-back games against the sides closest to them at the top of Kent & Sussex Regional Division One with a convincing victory.
The first half was far from easy as the visitors rattled the post from a short corner in the first ten minutes and had the better of the early possession.
Wells also hit the post from a corner but were often too slow or inaccurate with their passing.
The visitors’ pressure continued at the start of the second half, earning a short corner that was scrambled home to give them the lead.
This galvanised Wells to up their game and play the hockey that lifted them to the top of the table.
Simon Hare and James Beck were tireless in midfield, while Jack Garwood, Matt Wilson and Ben Allberry stretched the opposition defence.
Beck equalised with a well-placed drag-flick from a short corner. Then a trademark Allberry reverse stick strike finally put Wells ahead.
A fine finish by Kyle Mathieson at the second attempt from a tight angle made the game secure.
Some excellent reaction work from Calum Wood gave Wells their fourth goal close to the end.
Wells’ closest challengers Maidstone lost, so they now sit six points clear at the top of the table with Maidstone having just one game in hand.
