In association with Music Venue Trust and all music venues nationally, The Forum has been very busy on social media.
This started on Tuesday 23rd June with an open letter to UK government, shared out under hashtag #SaveOurVenues. Venues were joined on Thursday 2nd July by musicians across the world writing to ask for venues to be supported financially by the government. They shared photos of the last gigs they played, and asked fans to join in, with the hashtag #LetTheMusicPlay .
On Monday 6th July 2020 all of the UK events industry aim to #LightItInRed and you will be able to see all these lights across social media that evening. The Forum is aiming to be lit up at 9pm, and hopefully this will draw attention to the 25,000 businesses and over half a million workers through the UK who have been affected by the pandemic.
All these campaigns are helping to raise awareness of the diversity of the cultural and events sector – which has just received a £1.57billion lifeline from Chancellor Rishi Sunak – some of which The Forum organisers hope will go some way to save the iconic music venue.
