On July 30, Tunbridge Wells’ Assembly Hall Theatre will welcome back the London Cabaret Society for the next two shows of its special residency collaboration, which started earlier this year.
The theatre hosted the kings and queens of the cabaret performance company back in May with their dazzling show Le Cabaret Fantastique, which was a sell-out – and certainly brought Tunbridge Wells back to life after so many difficult months.
And now the good news is that next weekend the group, which is made up of talented West End singers, dancers and acrobats, will stage Le Cabaret Rock on July 30, which will then be followed by another exclusive show – Cabaret 007 – the following month, on August 28.
And although the theatre can now welcome more visitors through its doors, it will still be ensuring that the correct social-distancing measures are in place.
An Assembly Hall spokesperson told us: “These shows are unique to Tunbridge Wells and begin what is set to be a completely fresh and ongoing night of entertainment for the town.
“As shown with aplomb by Le Cabaret Fantastique in May, each show is set to be its own special and immersive night, set up in amazing cabaret style with tables right in the middle of the action.
“Expect an incredible show featuring some of the best cabaret, burlesque, dance and drag there is on offer!
“Le Cabaret Rock will take audiences on a rock star-studded journey with amazingly powerful vocals from the finest West End singers, performing the most iconic rock classics of all time.”
In addition to the singing there will also be fire dancers and acrobats to watch, and the evening will be hosted by drag queen extraordinaire Miss Demeanour – or ‘Miss D’ as she’s more commonly known.
“I’m absolutely thrilled I’m coming back to the Assembly Hall,” she tells us.
“The London Cabaret Society have got the most jam-packed evening of entertainment for you, there’s going to be a bit of everything – singers, contortionists, people balancing on each other and, of course, ME!
“What more could you want, darling? The last show we had was an absolute ball.”
“This show really is truly thrilling, exciting and exhilarating and will leave you singing all the way home”
London Cabaret Society Director Lisa Marie Holmes also shares her excitement: “Le Cabaret Rock is the ultimate spectacle and not to be missed.
“It really has it all, with every rock icon classic from Queen to Bonnie Tyler, breathtaking vocals from the West End’s finest amazing musicians, spellbinding circus acts and the Marvellous Drag host Miss Demeanour to bring you nothing but laughs and fun – while ensuring that the drinks keep flowing along the way.
“A truly thrilling, exciting and exhilarating show to leave you singing all the way home!”
And Lisa Marie also hints at what audiences can expect for the next show, on August 28: “Cabaret 007 combines the world of cabaret and the silver screen to make this glamorous event the highlight of anybody’s year. Bond fans will be thrilled to enter the world of Casino Royale.
“You can enjoy a game of roulette on arrival, take a photo with our very own James Bond and The Bong Girls, then sit down to a show of iconic music such as Diamonds Are Forever and Live and Let Die, performed by award-winning vocalists.
“Expect action-packed performances, such as astonishing stunts from James Bond himself and the devilish drag host Miss D to bring you some villainous fun and an evil laugh or two.
“Don’t hesitate to dress to impress and truly become a part of it all. This fabulous cocktail of a show will leave you shaken not stirred.”
Finally, the Assembly Hall spokesperson added that the suggested (but not necessary) dress code for this month’s London Cabaret Society show is ‘Rock Star Glam’. There’s also a fabulous prize for best dressed of the night. So, what are you waiting for?
