Learning the importance of being team players...
Beacon Academy Student Leadership Team

Beacon Academy’s new Student Leadership team will work alongside the school’s student council and members of staff to provide a voice for the student body, and to develop areas such as online safety, events and extra-curricular activities.

The team of Year 10 students, which comprises head and deputy head pupils and prefects, have now taken up their positions at the Crowborough school until the end of 2020. At that point, a new Student Leadership team will be selected for 2021.

In order to gain a place on the team, students were interviewed by the school’s key members of staff, and asked a number of questions regarding their vision for working on the Student Leadership team.

These included what they believe makes them a good leader as well as their hopes and ambitions for the future.

Students also prepared a five-minute presentation to explain how they felt they could continue to support and develop the school community and day-to-day life at Beacon Academy.

The academy’s Headteacher, Ms Robinson, said: “All of the students performed exceptionally well, and conducted themselves with great maturity, thoughtfulness and clarity.

“We would like to congratulate the students in their newly-appointed roles, and look forward to working alongside them over the following year.”
