Live music this week with Paul Dunton

Royal Victoria Grove was planted in honour of Queen Victoria's visit to Tunbridge Wells

The must-read guide to what’s on musically for the week ahead from Paul Dunton, www.paulduntonandguests.com

For fans of acoustic, roots and singer-songwriter-style music, Paul Prem Nadama, Cracks In the Land, PeterTaylor and Rachael Stalker will all be performing at The Grey Lady tonight [Wednesday].

The incredible Dino Baptiste & Darby Todd will be headlining Jazz on The Pantiles this Thursday night. Dino Baptiste is regarded as one of world’s finest Boogie Woogie-style pianists, and drummer Darby Todd is also absolutely world class.

Many excellent local bands are in action on Friday night, including The Gallerys, who headline The Forum, and The Naming of Things, who top the bill at The Sussex Arms with support from Alex Metcalfe.

There are many fine options for Saturday evening, with my top picks including the Match Box Opera atBurrswood in Groombridge. For fans of pop/rock and everything in between, look out for Sean Fennessey & Friends at The Bedford Pub, Red Rooster at The Beau Nash, Disco Odyssey at The Grey Lady, and Remnats at The Royal Oak Pub. Makeshift Heros will be at The Punch & Judy in Tonbridge.

I highly recommend The Mela Festival in Calverley Grounds this Sunday. It offers a wonderful family-friendly atmosphere, it’s free to attend and there is plenty of amazing music and dance on show from all over the world. Plenty of on-site food and drink, too!

On Monday, folk fans will enjoy Consort of One at The Tonbridge Folk Club, and on Tuesday, The Lowly Strung will be at The Punch & Judy Pub in Tonbridge.

Enjoy your musical week!
