JOTA Sport rounded off a highly successful year with a first-place finish at Six Hours of Bahrain on November 19 despite starting from the back of the grid.
A minor post-qualifying technical issue meant the team were forced to begin the race in 31st position.
But the exceptional skills and pace of drivers Rene Rast, Roman Rusinov and Alex Brundle quickly saw them moving up the pack.
However, it was not until the final quarter of an hour that the No 26 car managed to pass the LMP2 class leader, the 43 RGR Sport machine driven by former JOTA driver Filipe Albuquerque.
The class win was the third straight FIA World Endurance Championship victory for the team, who this year have been operating under the banner of main sponsor G-Drive Racing.
It meant the Frant-based team finished their debut WEC campaign in third place overall after coming first in the European Le Mans Series Championship title last month.
David Clark, JOTA’s Team Director, said: “What a great team effort. The team showed great fortitude after the qualifying disappointment and one thing I know is that no one on the team ever gives up.
“We showed real grit and determination to come from the back and it was a highly satisfying way to see the season out with three straight wins in the WEC, and of course the ELMS title which we claimed last month.”
