THE partnership between Frant-based Jota Sport and Jackie Chan DC Racing was off to a roaring start over the Easter weekend as the team secured a class victory at Silverstone.
Fielding two cars for the inaugural race of the World Endurance Championship (WEC), there was uncertainty after a mediocre qualifying session resulted in the team starting at third and ninth on the grid in their LMP2 class.
These positions were maintained for the duration of the six-hour race, with the No 37 car – driven by Jackie Chan DC Racing co-founder David Cheng, Alex Brundle and Tristan Gommendy – struggling to make its way up the field.
However, the No 38 – driven by Oliver Jarvis, Ho-Pin Tung and the 19-year-old Frenchman Thomas Laurent – managed to work its way into first place within the final hour after a tough series of battles with rivals TDS Racing and Rebellion.
It secured its class win by a margin of 19.376sec over No 31 Vaillante Rebellion Oreca, with Jarvis taking the car over the line to secure 25 points.
