The whole school production, which featured a cast and live orchestra made up of students from year 7 through to year 13, performed to rapturous audience acclaim each night earlier this month.
The cast, under the guidance of Bennett Music Academy Director Ian Johnson, was led by impressive performances from Year 13 students Amy Marrero, as Maria, and Sebastian Turner-Moore as Captain von Trapp. These leads were richly complemented by Emily Czarnowski as Elsa and Tom Hawkey-Soar as Max.
As Bennett’s Head Teacher, Jon Sparke, explained, music-making and theatre permeates the school, with ambitious productions and concerts providing an essential and important part of the school beyond the taught curriculum.
“This was a superb ensemble performance with a cast of over 50 students of all ages working with considerable commitment to deliver an outstanding show,” said Mr Sparke.
