BUDDING musicians are invited to try their hand at playing various instruments this Saturday (March 17) as the MusicStation in Tonbridge takes part in in Learn to Play Day.
The rock and pop specialists on Bank Street will be offering lessons for guitar, bass, ukulele, drums, keyboards and singing from 1.30-6pm.
The event is free and visitors will be able to try out a variety of instruments to see what suits them. All ages are welcome from four years old.
MusicStation is the largest private music school in the south-east with more than 500 students per week – it has taught more 65,000 lessons since it opened in 2013.
James Sedge, Director and drum tutor, said: “One of the joys of learning and playing popular music is that creativity is just as important as technique. This also includes teaching improvisation and composition, which are often missing from classical music education.
“We think that these areas of self-expression are challenging, important and healthy for children and adults to experience.”
MusicStation works closely with Trinity College in London and were lead consultants for their new Rock & Pop exam syllabus.
There will be demonstrations of the award-winning Trinity Rock & Pop App.
Learn to Play Day has been organised with the Music For All charity, which helps disadvantaged children and adults access high quality musical education and also provides free instruments.
Their patron is TV personality and keyboardist Jools Holland and their ambassadors include musicians from Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Yes and many more.
MusicStation has a state-of-the-art recording studio and modern teaching rooms containing the latest Roland digital pianos, V-Drums and guitar amps.
There are large plasma screens, iMacs and iPads and CCTV in every room.
