Ingredients:
250ml Guinness
250g butter
100g cocoa powder
400g caster sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
140ml buttermilk
280g plain flour
2 tsp bicarb
1/2 tsp baking powder
Method:
Grease 1x 9′ springform tin.
Pour the Guinness into a large saucepan, add the butter and heat gently until the butter has melted. Remove from heat and stir in the cocoa powder and sugar.
In a large jug, mix together by hand the eggs, vanilla and buttermilk.
Add this to the mixture in the pan.
Put the flour, bicarb and baking powder in the mixer bowl. Pour in the contents of the saucepan and beat thoroughly until all the ingredients are incorporated.
Bake for 35-45 minutes at 150 (fan)
Top with cream cheese frosting and a dusting of chocolate powder
