CINDERFORD arrived at The Slade intent on bashing down the TJ defences and they succeeded with a victory that keeps their title challenge on track.
TJs had the swirling wind at their backs for the first half and territory came quite naturally. So too did a Charlie Edwards opening try after some good close quarter phase play and a snipe. Liam Prescott added a penalty five minutes later and TJs were 8-0 up.
However, the wind was not always dominant and Cinderford managed two converted tries to go in at the interval 8-14 up.
TJs knew they would be under the cosh in the second half but they rose to the challenge for long periods with stout defence and excellent attitude.
Yet Cinderford carved out the openings to extend their lead further to 33-8 with the try bonus point secured with 20 minutes to go.
Two successive yellow cards for TJs was not a game changer but they were bitter pills to swallow in face of Storm Brian and a strong opposition.
TJs rallied with line breaks from deep by Matt Betty and Hugo Watson whilst George Lawson was injecting pace and effort on the right wing.
The home side managed one last effort with Will Colderick crashing over after TJs had got a foothold in Cinders’ territory. Nathan Holmes slotted the conversion but time was up and TJs ended up without any points.
TJs remain in 11th place in National Two South and now travel to Worthing, who are one place below them on Saturday (October 28, kick-off 3pm).
