TONBRIDGE JUDDIANS went into this match knowing that, if they managed a bonus point win and other results went their way, they could be crowned champions of National League Three London & South-East with a couple of games to spare.
The hosts, though, were chasing points of their own as they looked to avoid dropping into the relegation zone.
So it turned into a much closer affair than TJs would have liked.
TJs still earned the bonus point win with a brace of tries from Hugo Watson plus one each from George Lawson and Jon McMahon.
But Sutton & Epsom never gave up in a pumped-up performance and secured a bonus point of their own with the last kick of the game.
Second-placed Wimbledon avoided a potential banana skin in Guernsey, where they also achieved maximum points in a 29-38 win.
TJs’ title chase will carry on at least until next Saturday when they welcome Hertford to The Slade.
Rivals Wimbledon, who are five points behind TJs, face Shelford.
