TONBRIDGE JUDDIANS took Old Albanians apart in their first encounter with the St Albans side with a show of pace and accuracy.
The visitors started well, Murray Galbraith-Lowe off-loading for Finlay Coxon-Smith to power his way over after five minutes, Will Robinson converting from the touchline.
Three minutes later Coxon-Smith burst through the tackles and passed to fly-half Robinson, who scored again and converted for a 14-0 lead.
The in-form Galbraith-Lowe crossed for another try built on a break by Duncan Tout and a cross-kick from Robinson.
A string of penalties eventually led to Ryan Jackson going to the sinbin along with one of the home players.
Lock forward Matas Jurevicius showed strength and determination to break through the middle for Galbraith-Lowe’s second and TJ’s bonus point.
OAs got on the scoreboard with a try just before the interval and went in 24-5 down after Max Hayes had also been sent to the sinbin for TJs.
After the break Toby May ran down the left and fed Hugo Watson, who offloaded to Galbraith-Lowe for his third try, which Robinson converted.
OAs bounced back and, via a series of penalties, opted for a scrum inside TJ’s 22. The home pack managed to shove TJs back over the line and score.
A sweeping crossfield move took replacement centre Rob White close to the line. The alert scrum-half Charlie Edwards picked up and dived over for a converted try.
After a prolonged attack by OAs, Watson broke away and ran two thirds the length of the field to score an excellent solo try which replacement fly-half Nathan Holmes converted.
TJs were in relentless mood and a fine, long pass from Holmes reached Watson on the left wing to score his second try.
Holmes added the extras, his conversion bouncing in off the post.
White, showing good pace, supplied centre Tom Nicoll with the chance to complete the rout with an unconverted try, TJs’ ninth of the match.
The win keeps TJs in fifth place in National Two South and they welcome Bury St Edmunds to The Slade on Saturday [January 26, kick-off 2.30pm].
