WIMBLEDON came to The Slade without a win to their name in the current campaign but a strong performance against National Two South leaders Cinderford belied that bare statistic.
TJs produced a disappointing performance away to Barnstaple in the previous match and from the start they seemed determined to put matters right.
They moved the ball quickly and accurately, retained possession and put the visitors under prolonged pressure. The lineout was strong and stole a few Wimbledon throws but the scrum seemed to upset the officials.
Hugo Watson opened the scoring, and Murray Galbraith-Lowe and Jon McMahon added two more tries to give TJs a 22-5 lead at the break after Liam Prescott slotted two conversions and a penalty.
TJs were quick out of the blocks in the second half as Watson crossed again and the home seemed to ease off with four tries in the bank and the bonus point secured.
When yellow cards for Jack Whitmarsh and Charlie Edwards reduced TJs to 13, Wimbledon smelt a comeback and responded with a try.
But the revival was short-lived as Watson completed his hat-trick and Tom Nicoll entered the fray at scrum-half to snipe over.
Wimbledon managed to go over again but Finlay Coxon-Smith added another to the TJ try tally and the hosts ran out comfortable winners. The timely victory keeps TJs in tenth position in the league.
Now they take the long road to Redruth in Cornwall next Saturday (December 9, kick-off 2pm).Â
