Rustics punished by bottom side

Rusthall: 3

Bridon Ropes: 4

In the 19th minute some poor defending allowed Liam Donaldson space and time to fire the visitors into the lead.

Worse was to follow five minutes later when a long-range shot was spilled by Rusthall keeper Callum Hampson and Jack Kirby was on hand to roll the ball into the net.

The shell-shocked Rustics were clearly rattled but they gained a lifeline on 25 minutes when leading scorer Luke Adams fired home from close range.

Rusthall worked hard to get back on level terms and a minute before the interval Reuel Powell-Downey scored a superb goal to make it 2-2 against the run of play.

In the second half the hosts looked more like the side that has started the season so well. After three minutes fine build-up play down the right led to cross to the far post and Callum Gallie put the Rustics ahead for the first time with a good header.

But they kept giving the ball away. Bridon Ropes took advantage of the errors and made it 3-3 on 65 minutes through Patrick Giavagnoli.

This gave the visitors another lift as they sensed a rare victory and it was no surprise when they took the lead again on 80 minutes, Giavagnoli pouncing on another error to finish well.

Rusthall have been boosted by the return of former player James Miles after a spell at Faversham Town.

They slip down to fifth in the table ahead of the visit of Snodland Town to Jockey Farm on Saturday (November 2, kick-off 3pm).
