THE RED carpet was rolled out for Tonbridge actress Olivia Murray (right) last week as she attended the UK premiere of her latest film.
Ms Murray plays the lead role in Dr Sugarloaf, a short black comedy which featured at the Cannes Film Festival last summer. The Little Theatre in Bath hosted the UK premiere on January 12.
Having moved to Tonbridge 13 years ago, Ms Murray has performed with local performing arts groups, in productions at both the Oast and EM Forster Theatre.
In the film, she plays Veronica, a ‘disillusioned video shop assistant who decides to dip her toe into the world of online dating’. She describes the film as a ‘thought provoking modern tale about internet dating with a vintage James Bond style twist’.
The film was created in collaboration with Oscar winning Editor Lizzy Graham (The Phone Call) and Oscar/BAFTA Winning Sound Designer Glenn Freemantle (V for Vendetta, Slumdog Millionaire), working alongside newcomers to the industry.
Ms Murray said she had been thankful to work with ‘such an impressive wealth of talent in our area’ and hoped that her starring role in this film would allow her to ‘take things to the next level’ in her acting career.
