KENT COLLEGE pupil Annabel Guye-Johnson made her mark on the global stage by winning a medal at the World Junior Championships in Indianapolis in the United States.
The Upper Sixth student, who trains with the RTW Monson club, won bronze in the 200m breaststroke on the last day of the meeting.
Annabel took her personal best down to 2min 27.42sec to touch third in a thrilling final, a mere 1.74sec behind the USA’s Ella Nelson.
The World Junior Championships is a six-day competition and the most prestigious junior event in the world, with many competitors this year having competed in the Rio Olympics.
Team GB also came fourth in the mixed 100m medley and fourth in the women’s 100m medley relay with a time of 4min 01.30sec, 0.25sec off the junior world record.
Annabel said: “I couldn’t be happier with my results from the World Junior Championships, it was the most amazing experience.
“I couldn’t have done it without the support network of my parents, friends and my school, who were there every step of the way, allowing me to train full-time while studying for my A levels.”
