CAITLIN EBBAGE added four more gold medals to the three she won the previous weekend at the Kent County Swimming Championships at Crystal Palace.

The second instalment in the four-weekend extravaganza saw the 11-year-old become the leading swimmer in the British rankings for her age group in the 200m backstroke.

Tonbridge Swimming Club had seven swimmers in action, and they set 13 new long-course club records between them.

Erin Nisbet had an impressive weekend, scooping two bronze medals in the girls’ 12 years freestyle and backstroke events.

Harvey Thatcher, making his debut at the event, set a new 2.5sec personal best (PB) and club record in the 100m butterfly for the boys’ 14 years age group.

He was quickly followed by Dan Brice in the 13 years age group. He also achieved a new PB and club record in qualifying for the final.

Caitlin set a new PB and club record in winning the Girls’ 12 years 200m freestyle event in a time that ranks her sixth in GB for her age. Erin managed a PB to secure third place in the race.

Caitlin recorded another PB in the 100m freestyle heat and won the final, while Sarah Brown secured a PB in her first swim of this year’s championships.

Sunday saw the boys swimming the breaststroke and girls the backstroke events over 100m and 200m.

Dan and Michael Roshier both set new long course club records in the 100m breaststroke.

In the 200m backstroke Caitlin won gold again with a PB and club record. She came home more than 20 seconds ahead of the nearest rival in her age group and recorded fact the sixth fastest swim across all age groups. That result took Caitlin to No 1 in the GB rankings for her age group.

Caitlin and Erin took first and third place in the girls’ 12 years 100m backstroke final, the latter achieving a 1.5 second PB to win the bronze.

A tired Caitlin secured victory by more than four seconds but was outside her PB. Her heat time now ranks her second in GB for this event at her age group.

Sarah swam to another PB and club record in the same event, while Holly Gordon also set a new club record.

Dan Brice was again the sole boys’ representative in the 200m breaststroke event, and set a new club record for his age group.
