Tonbridge gym The Strength & Conditioning Institute (The SCI) are celebrating being shortlisted for three prestigious industry awards. The SCI has been shortlisted in the Regional Gym of the Year (South), the Customer Service Award, and Gym Team of the Year categories in the 2016 National Fitness Awards, which recognise excellence, innovation and achievement in the fitness sector.
The national awards are organised by Workout magazine, with support from ServiceSport. The SCI has been selected alongside up to six other finalists in each category, following a tough judging process which whittled down hundreds of entries. A site visit and interview is the next stage of the process, and overall winners will be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony on 2nd December.
Fitness industry pace-setters The SCI were also recognised by the National Fitness Awards in 2015, being named the top functional training gym in the whole of the UK. 2016 has been another standout year for the business, who have seen their membership continue to soar since opening their new world-class facility in October 2015, and have recently launched a groundbreaking online service, The SmartCoach – www.thesmartcoach.co.
Director and Head Coach at The SCI, Alex Shoebridge, said: “Since being named Functional Training Gym of the Year in 2015 we have done anything but sit on our laurels. We constantly strive to improve our facilities, services and our own professional development, and always have new goals and innovations in our sights. We don’t let our business rest, and the feedback from our members and the local community attests to that.”
Fellow Director and Head Coach at The SCI, Martin Shyvers, said: “Being a three-time finalist at the National Fitness Awards is huge! There are very few gyms and clubs who can say that, and we are absolutely delighted to be recognised in three very diverse categories which serve to reflect the breadth of expertise and excellence The SCI offers. Going online with The SmartCoach in 2016 sets us apart yet again, and we can’t wait to welcome the judges to the gym to share the success stories.”
