Tonbridge Philharmonic’s Family Carols raise £5,000 for two hospices

THE Tonbridge Philharmonic Society and the town’s Round Table have distributed almost £5,000 to two local charities from the proceeds of their annual Family Carols concert in Tonbridge School Chapel in December.

The hugely popular event was sold out several weeks in advance and raised a total of £4,820, to be split equally between the two organisations’ charities of choice – the Hospice in the Weald, based in Pembury and Heart of Kent Hospice, based in Aylesford.

The orchestra, conducted by music director Matthew Willis, played a mixture of traditional and modern festive pieces.

They were assisted by the Woodlands Junior School choir and the award-winning Tonbridge Grammar School Motet Choir.

The concert was organised in conjunction with the Round Table, who provide mulled wine and mince pies afterwards.
