Town enjoys another multicultural Mela

HUNDREDS of people turned out to Calverley Grounds to witness extravagant performers from all around the world at this year’s Mela Festival.

Entertaining the town for the past 12 years, and organised by Cohesion Plus, the annual free event is a culturally diverse community celebration of music, food and dance from around the globe.
This year, audiences were treated to shows from the likes of the UK-based Bollywood Brass Band, the refugee-centred Syrian All Stars, Kent-based Irish dance troupe Reel Eire and North Kent’s Four by Four Bhangra Dancers, performing folk routines from the Punjab.

Tunbridge Wells’ own Ukelear Fallout opened the event on July 9, and leading Bob Marley tribute act Tanni-I Browne finished the day’s programme.
