Eight members of Tunbridge Wells Triathlon club travelled to Nottingham to compete in the 10th anniversary edition of the Outlaw Triathlon.
This flagship event attracted more than 1,000 entrants for the Ironman of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile marathon run.
The race starts with a two-lap swim of the boating lake where sighting was affected by torrential rain and choppy waters.
The organisers were forced to cancel the bike leg after persistent downpours resulted in flash flooding and fallen trees along the course.
So the race was officially shortened to a swim-run event with split times.
The run comprised of two out-and-back loops along the River Trent, past the Nottingham Forest football stadium and Trent Bridge cricket ground.
These loops were punctuated by 5km laps of the boating lake, where footpaths were waterlogged.
Ken McSporran was first home for the club, backing up an impressive 1:15 swim by setting a marathon personal best of 3:28.
