Village pub gets a rebrand after being saved from administration
The Mark Cross Inn

The Mark Cross Inn located just outside of Crowborough, was closed last year when operators Whiting and Hammond fell into administration.

Whiting and Hammond MD Brian Whiting blamed the government’s Covid restrictions for the collapse of his business and although he managed to save a number of his venues, The Mark Cross Inn was not one of them.

It was feared the pub would never reopen but the inn has now been bought by pub operators Elite Pubs and renamed The Lazy Fox.

It is expected to open as soon as government restrictions allow.

Along with The Pheasant Plucker, located in Ide Hill just outside of Sevenoaks, The Lazy Fox will be the second acquisition of Elite Pubs group to open in 2021, which has another 12 venues across the local area.

Martial Chaussy, who founded Elite Pubs in 2003, said: “We work as a team and our success has been due to our respect for our customers and the hard work of our employees. All of whom are dedicated to our cause, which is to offer the best service possible at an affordable price in an ambient environment.

“We are publicans and we love the atmosphere of the English pub. We serve our local communities, something which we take very seriously. Always getting involved and supporting the local residents is high on our list of priorities.”
