The rugby season kicked off with an away match between Tunbridge Wells RFU and Maidstone on Saturday.
It was a close game for the first XV squad, with Tunbridge Wells only narrowly beating their rivals 15 points to 14.
Around 200 spectators turned up to cheer on their teams and watch Lee Campion score the first try, later converted by Frank Reynolds, to give the visitors a 0-7 lead.
Despite some injuries for the Tunbridge Wells team, this score held until the second half where Maidstone put on the pressure through a series of attacks.
A penalty given to the Tunbridge Wells team saw them extend their lead to 0-10 and was further extended to 15-0 when Reynolds scored a try.
But the visitors began to tire, allowing Maidstone to dominate the last ten minutes of the match, leading to their first converted try bringing the score to 7-10.
A yellow card reduced the Tunbridge Wells squad to 14 men, allowing Maidstone to get another converted try and bringing the score almost level at 14-15 with three minutes to go.
However, the away squad managed to hold on to their tiny lead by the time the final whistle blew, claiming the 35th consecutive win.
