Forty girls and women aged between ten and 80 have stitched together a pictorial depiction of life in Speldhurst in the form of a hanging quilt, pictured.
The 1.8 m sq work – which has 49 squares showing the buildings, groups and countryside around the village – will be placed in the village hall.
A ‘frolic’ is a collective noun for ladies working on a quilt, according to organiser Karen Bowles, and they have been ‘frolicking’ on the piece for the past year.
Mrs Bowles was inspired to undertake the challenge after seeing a similar quilt in Southwold last year.
She said: “I thought that I could organise a similar thing in Speldhurst. The last few years has seen a revival of home crafts like sewing and this project has brought people together who would not normally have met and encouraged participants to try something a bit new or revisit long forgotten crafts.”
