A Twist in the tale at Trinity this Christmas

The Pantiles 1

Trinity theatre has picked more than a pocket or two in the run up to its production of Oliver!, with thousands of people having already bought tickets for the Christmas show.

This rendition of Dickens’ classic tale about an orphan who asked for more is brought to you by the same team that staged last year’s successful telling of ‘A Christmas Carol’.

The musical will be the biggest Christmas production Trinity has put on, with a cast of 50 children supporting the eight professional actors who will fill the major roles.

A ten-strong professional orchestra will accompany the actors from a specially built pit, and set the tone for what promises to be a spectacular show.

The theatre’s artistic director, John Martin, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for the young people in the show to work in a professional environment and have an amazing experience working with professionals both on and offstage. This is the first time that Oliver! has been performed at Trinity
and is an exciting development for us.”

The curtain rises for the first time at 10.30am tomorrow, with 26 further morning, afternoon and evening performances scheduled before the run ends on January 3.

Tickets range from £15.50 for children to £19.50 for adults until December 18, after which they will cost £1 more.
